Opening with the backdrop of “The Linda McCartney Retrospective,” 8-Track reflects the spirit of Tucson, McCartney’s photography and her love for music. The installation features eight live performances by eight local musicians each of whom have written an original song inspired by one of 250 archived images of the Southwest.

Brian Lopez, a classically-trained guitarist and songwriter, merges his desert roots with soul, pop, and rock’n’roll to transport his listeners on an ethereal journey. He is known as one of the frontmen of XIXA and for playing the lead guitar for Calexico.

Fred Huang is the former front person and songwriter of Asian Fred and Of the Painted Choir. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, and audio engineer, Fred utilizes his combination of skills to write, produce, and perform original songs inspired by decades of rock and pop.

Karima Walker is a Tucson musician and artist using songwriting, field recording, video, and installation to question how the stories of people and places are shaped. Her work has been featured in Pitchfork, NPR, MTV, and The New Yorker Radio Hour.

Femme fatale in the body of two. New Misphoria is a two-piece indie rock band from Tucson. The pair burst onto Tucson’s DIY scene in 2021, where their energy and talent immediately built a dedicated following.
